A Quiet Sunday in Photos – Hemisfair Park, San Antonio

by Rachel

This post is a collection of moments, of details. Details are what keep things interesting around here. To be honest, there are times in the mundane, everyday, where I lose sight of the beauty around me.

I’m so busy.

When I’m working I have no time for my own thoughts. I’m in survival mode. Sometimes when I am with my kids my mind is elsewhere. I’m wishing I were somewhere else, somewhere where I feel at home. My heart longs for South America and I am in South Texas.

So I look for places here that are beautiful, and beauty grounds me to the present moment. These are a collection of moments from one Sunday when we went to Hemisfair Park in San Antonio, Texas.

My kids love climbing the structure there, it’s full of flowers and sometimes tourists, you get a sense of the world there, a reminder of other places and that life exists outside of Texas. There’s also a delicious ice cream parlor around the corner, so that helps!

So, this is me. And these are the things I noticed at Hemisfair Park. You will notice that I took a number of photos of just the mosaic benches. This is because they’re beautiful and they remind me of the Parque del Amor in Lima, Peru.

After playing on the playground for a while we got some ice cream from Lick Honest Ice Creams. Some pieces fell off our cones and we watched some squirrels carry them off. I got the goat cheese, thyme and honey flavor and it was great!

I love taking photos of that building. It seems so old and regal, and obviously I’m a huge fan of the color green.
